MapRun is a smartphone orienteering app. You navigate through the real world with a paper map and compass. MapRun tracks your progress with GPS and keeps score of your session, beeping to indicate you’ve reached a feature. You can learn about MapRun here – https://maprunners.weebly.com/

Two courses are included:
- Scatter – visit up to 20 control locations in any order
- Score-O – strategize and try to reach as many points as possible in 65 minutes
- Walk, run, bike, stroll, crawl, whatever. This goes at your pace, on your schedule.
- Competitive? Race against your friends and compare routes and times on the online MapRun Leaderboard.
- Stats nerd? Easy email GPX file export and Strava integration.
- Choose from Self-print PDFs or full color, waterproof paper copies by mail. Your purchase comes with an Instructions Sheet bearing PIN codes to unlock these courses in the MapRun app.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD
- Black Mountain is 20 minutes east of Asheville on I-40 and boasts a rolling terrain filled with artist and antique shops, winding and steep roads, a golf course, Lake Tomahawk Park, and some amazing views of the Swannanoa Mountains. Lookout Brewing Company has been a hub for WNCOC over the years, with its excellent beer, active Lookout Brewing Running Club, and proximity to so many amazing trails.

THE MAP
- Mostly black and white with simplified street-O symbol set. Purists take heed – this map is custom and makes no effort to adhere to any ISOM standard.
- Scale is 1:10,000 with 20-foot contour interval.
- This activity takes place on public streets and you should never cut through private property. Possession of this map does not imply right of access. Use this map at your own risk, use your head, and be safe out there.

THE APP
- MapRun runs on Android and iPhone, and is FREE
- You can download and install MapRun here.
- When you arrive to within 15 meters of a control point, the app beeps and vibrates to indicate you’ve “gotten” the control.
